WHO WORE IT BETTER?

On tonight’s episode of WHO WORE IT BETTER?, here on the left we see Cloud Strife laying to rest Aerith Gainsborough in the Forgotten Capital in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII (1997). On the right, you’ll notice Caius Ballad doing much of the same to Paddra Nsu-Yeul off the shores of Valhalla from another Square Enix title, Final Fantasy XIII-2 (2011). The likeness is not surprising in the least; both were produced by series veteran Yoshinori Kitase (V, VI, VII, VIII, X, X-2, XIII, XIII-2), and the series is known well by its fanbase for appropriating and referencing itself!

Look at Cloud in a choice outfit designed by clothing designer Tetsuya Nomura! Here we see the beginnings of Nomura’s penchant for plentiful belts, buckles and zippers, but the display here is quite tame! Cloud, you’re definitely going to be a trendsetter for your main protagonist successors in the years to come! Aerith is also quite the stunner, also wearing Nomura from head to toe. For Aerith, Nomura clothed her in a much more simple pink dress with a red mini-jacket that covers yet flatters what could very well be a beautiful body!

Caius and Yeul decided to opt out of the popular Nomura fashions to wear some fabulous Yusuke Naora! Naora clothed Caius in extremely flattering armor that’s highly reminiscent of the armor worn by Final Fantasy II’s Leon, which was done by none other than the great Yoshitaka Amano! Don’t you love throwback fashion? Naora continues the trend for Yeul, who is wearing only the highest quality fabrics from her home city-state of Paddra! Caius’ and Yeul’s decorative beads and feathers are all the rage this season, and could possibly start a new trend among future FF characters!

A vibrant clash of modern military-inspired streetwear and quaint city life, and tribal armor plating and traditional native garb! WHO WORE IT BETTER?

I am still appalled and disgusted… that they would take this scene from VII. Seriously? Yoou such shit now that you can’t think of something new, you have t steal from the game your company says isn’t as good as we think?

Fuck you Square. Fuck you. And fuck final fantasy XIII-2 and whomever thinks this game is in REMOTE competition with VII.

and! Fuck the VII haters. Statistics are against you, assholes.
